One of the worst feelings in the world is when stomach issues hit – discomfort, nausea, bloating, gas, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. Depending on just how bad it gets, it can be incapacitating, and all you want it is to feel better as soon as possible. Next time that you feel this way, you may not have to wait it out until the symptoms pass. Instead, there may be some natural ways to find relief. Here are three ways that you can cure your upset stomach and the symptoms associated with it naturally.

1. Ginger

Ginger can be used for a number of things. Some may say that it is an old wives' tale, while others rely on it for a number of different ailments. With anti-inflammatory properties, ginger has the ability to help when you are dealing with an upset stomach.

It doesn't matter whether your upset stomach is brought on by pregnancy (morning sickness), seasickness, or even chemotherapy – studies show that ginger can help! It can even help reduce vomiting.

There are different ways that you can consume ginger. You can take it as a supplement, drink a glass of ginger ale, or chop up some fresh ginger root and drink a cup of warm ginger tea.

2. Peppermint

Peppermint can help relieve some of the nausea that you are feeling with an upset stomach. Believe it or not, it is actually the menthol in the peppermint that helps you find the relief that you are seeking, as it works as a natural pain reliever. You can use peppermint to naturally alleviate those feelings of nausea a few different ways, including sucking on a piece of candy, inhaling peppermint extract, chewing on peppermint leaves, or drinking a hot cup of peppermint tea.

3. The BRAT Diet

Some people are aware of this diet, while others may not be very familiar. Most commonly, BRAT stands for bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. These foods are low in fiber, contain no spices or salts, and are extremely bland. For that reason, they won't aggravate the symptoms you are already experiencing – nausea, diarrhea, etc. – and will get some food in your stomach even though you are feeling sick. Some people say that if you overcook the toast just a tad that it can help reduce the nausea.

There are also upset stomach pop you can get from places like Three Lollies. If your upset stomach and associated symptoms persist and the aforementioned natural tips do not help, it is recommended that you make an appointment with a health care professional for a more aggressive treatment and to ensure that there is not an underlying problem.
